Alaine Chartrand, 21, Prescott, Ont., is the first of three Canadian entries in ladies. This will be her fifth time competing at this event; she placed 11th last year. Chartrand placed fourth at the 2018 Canadian Tire National Skating Championships. The four-time Canadian medallist is coached by Joanne McLeod.

Say WHAAAAAAT???????? I hope this is an error in the material. It wouldn't make sense to me, since Joanne is in Vancouver, and the Canadian Nationals were only a few weeks ago. I guess we'll see who's at the boards with her at 4CC. I fully expected she would retire at the end of this cycle.

I understand that Joanne has been seen with her in Taipei - Joanne is there with Kevin, of course.
Perhaps Alaine had a "try out" in Vancouver and stayed there after Canadians?
