This is the first season that Skate Ontario is all one region as part of Skate Canada. It is also the first season for Ontario Sectionals to be held. Skaters have to qualify for the available positions in Sectionals leading to the opportunity to compete at the Skate Canada Challenge leading to Canadians. In the 2017-2018 season, there will be 7 Skate Ontario Sectional Championships Qualifying Events; 3 in the summer and 4 in the fall. The Summer Qualifying Series included: Minto Summer Skate Invitational (Ottawa); Summer Sizzle (Waterloo); and Skate Ontario Summer Skate (Thornhill).
