Fred's, (Used to be Barb's), Board

While the JGP event in Gdansk, POL and the Challenger Series event in Espoo, FIN are taking place, there was another competition going on this weekend - Team Europe, Team Japan, and Team North America were competing at this years' Japan Open. Each team was composed of two men and two women.

Competing for each of the teams:

• Team Europe (alphabetical order)
  Alexei Bychenko ISR
  Javier Fernandez ESP
  Evgenia Medvedeva RUS
  Alina Zagitova RUS

• Team Japan (alphabetical order)
  Marin Honda JPN
  Mai Mihara JPN
  Nobunari Oda JPN
  Shoma Uno JPN

• Team North America (alphabetical order)
  Jeremy Abbott USA
  Karen Chen USA
  Nathan Chen USA
  Mirai Nagasu USA

After the competition, the results were:
1. Team Europe - 615.35
2. Team Japan - 614.93
3. Team North America - 572.95

There is also an associated show called "Carnival on Ice" which includes skaters who didn't compete, for example Weaver & Poje.

Uhm.....more like Team USA! Where were the Canadians??

Either they weren't invited or they chose not to participate.

If they had participated they probably would have ended up on the top of the podium - pity.

I would respectfully suggest that this is a "nothing" open event in an Olympic year. Participating might not contribute to more important preparations and might not be worth the $$ offered.
